I live in a beautiful city with towering mountains to the north and a river that flows through the city giving life to various groups of wildlife. The other reason I love where I live is that it is less than a 40 minute drive to the border! Yup, I am a cross border shopper and I love it!
Yes, we have grocery stores, grocery boutiques and Planet Organic (name should say it all). What I love about shopping in the US is the selection of items and the price point. The difference in the cost of similar items I can get here is mind blowing! Purchasing organic foods in my neck of the woods should not begin with jaw dropping, eye popping, mouth gaping awe when looking at the price and nor should it EVER entail CRYING at ANY POINT!
Thus, I shop every 6-8 weeks across our lovely border with our lovely neighbours to the south! I hit Trader Joes, Costco and the Community Co-op which has the most selection of organic, natural and dietary/allergy restricted food I have ever seen! I honestly get giddy at all the selection!
Today was a family outing to the U.S. with the kids as our oldest needed new running shoes. Now his feet, I swear, have not grown in a year so I am hesitant to buy him new runners because guaranteed his feet are going to grow 12 hours after I buy them! This meant that we needed to head down to the U.S. to buy shoes at Stride Rite (always 50% less $$ than in Canada) which had a sale (bogo 50%) so we were able to get him 2 pairs of Saucony shoes, one in his current size and another in a ½ size bigger just in case for $45.
We hit some other outlet stores and of course did some grocery shopping too!
Here are my “FAVORITE FINDS” from today’s adventure:
My new running hat! So excited! Moisture wicking AND cute!
This certainly was not a "need" but a "must have those" while drooling and petting the mannequin's leg. Yay! new running capris!
My must have staples for trail mix. Raw nuts, banana slices and some yummy dried fruit and chocolate!
It's almost EASTER!! No artificial colours or flavours and no preservatives! Oh and only $1.99!
Family favourite snack and my kids not only eat them, they remind me to get them each a bag of their own! Oh, and its only $1.99 at TJ's while they are almost $4 here locally!
The best coffee in the Northwest! It is tradition to stop at Woods Coffee in Lyndon, WA and get a coffee, sit down and arrange my receipts. Why there isn't a Woods Coffee on every corner is perplexing to me! 1lb of coffee, ground and brought home!
So, did you have a "FAVOURITE FIND" today?
